MR6-1B:  Teaching Role
in the New Testament

Teaching Ministry & Functions in the Early Church

This workshop covers many facets of the teaching role beginning with a discussion of the Greek words related to teaching or instruction followed by a look at Jesus as teacher and Rabbi.  The teaching ministry in the early church will highlight teachers as skilled trainers with nine functions to fulfill within the church.  Comparisons will be made to the similarities and differences between the pastoral and teaching roles. 

 

Workshop Objectives

What you will learn in this workshop

1.  You will learn about Jesus' manner of teaching and some of his techniques of teaching.

2.  You will learn how Jesus functioned the same and differently than other Rabbis.

3.  Discuss Jesus as a teacher in regards to some Old Testament teaching roles.

4.  Gain an overview of the New Testament teaching ministry of the early church and learn nine functions of the teaching role today.

5.  Compare differences and similarities between the pastoral role and the teaching role and relate these to the APEPT.
