The Place Where God Acts
Implications of a Theology of Place
This workshop will identify ways in which God may be active in the lives of people in the local community by looking at the place where culture is created. Leader will discuss the significance that place has in redemptive history from the Garden of Eden to the city of New Jerusalem with special empasis on themes of place, dislocation, promise, and Israel's experiences of place. Application will be made to the extension of grace that is offered to groups of people in the local community.
Workshop Objectives
What you will learn in this workshop
1. Discuss the Biblical references relating to the relationship between humanity, culture, and place.
2. Understand the central themes of place with social meanings that are derived from historical experience.
3. Gain understanding of the histories regarding loss of place, promises concerning place, and the landed experiences of place.
4. Using available data identify major local lifestyle groups and ways to join in with God at work in people groups.
