SMC1a-1:  Theologies of Mission, Culture, and Personhood

Theology for Biblical Missions in Culture and Society

This workshop will focus on the mission of God, the Old Testament mission of the Israelites, and conversion and call to salvation in the Old and the New Testaments.  Presenter will define and discuss views of culture, where culture originates, and the effects of a fallen world upon culture. The nature of humanity and God's redemptive work through and in people in the community will also be discussed.  

 

 

Workshop Objectives

 

What you will learn in this workshop

1.  Understand the theological meaning of mission in relationship to God's mission in the world.

2.  Gain an understanding of the Old Testament mission of the people of God in regard to scope and message of their mission assignment.

3.  Learn about conversion and salvation in the Old Testament.

4.  Analyze New Testament call with particular emphasis to the Apostle Paul.

5.  Discuss culture as a foundational understanding for future workshops.
